JumpControl

Camera, Controller, and Archive working together

JumpControl v2.0 organizes the workflow around Camera, Controller, and a dedicated Archive on iPad. The officials responsible for the event remain in charge of deciding whether an attempt is valid.

Camera

Camera records at 60, 120, or 240 frames per second. Multiple cameras can be set up, selected in Controller, and switched later; this does not promise simultaneous recording with multiple cameras. Available frame-rate and resolution combinations depend on the device in use.

Controller

Controller connects wirelessly to one Camera, manages recording, and supports slow-motion and frame-by-frame playback. Attempts can be saved with the event, attempt information, bib number, and a valid or foul marker, then opened again later.

Archive

The dedicated Archive is available on iPad. It groups locally saved attempts by date, filters marked attempts, and supports playback, editing, and transfer of a complete attempt—including its video and attempt data—to another JumpControl installation. During playback in Archive, a connected external display shows the attempt video only. Outside Archive, it shows a placeholder image. This feature is intended for training and situation review, not for display during competition.

Frame Rate, Resolution, and Competition Rules

JumpControl does not automatically determine whether an attempt is valid. World Athletics Technical Rule 29.5 requires video at 120 frames per second and at least 4K for the World Rankings Competitions covered by categories 1(a) and 1(b). Based on the definitions reviewed in the Knowledge Base, this scope includes the World Athletics Series, the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, and the Olympic Games. For other competitions, the rule strongly recommends video technology and allows alternatives depending on availability. JumpControl offers 60, 120, and 240 fps; suitable devices can provide 120 fps and 4K together. Before use, verify this combination on the specific device and app build, and check the rules that apply to the competition. Recording at 240 fps does not automatically mean 4K. This does not establish general approval or certification of JumpControl.
